This week's episode of The Scoop recaps a mixed bag week in the world of Temple sports.
One day after E.J. Warner dealt the Temple football program a blow by entering the NCAA's transfer portal, Adam Fisher's men's basketball team outlasted La Salle and former Owls coach Fran Dunphy in triple overtime at the Liacouras Center to advance to Saturday's inaugural Big 5 Classic championship game, which will tip off at 7:30 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center.
We talked about how Warner's departure affects the Owls, dissected the craziness of Temple's triple-overtime win, and got a detailed look at the Saint Joe's team the Owls will face Saturday night and a great conversation about Big 5 hoops with Philadelphia Inquirer reporter and Temple graduate Jeff Neiburg.

Temple's 2023 season has been a disappointment, but David Martin-Robinson's career has not. He's just the third tight end in the program's history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in his time with the Owls, and the other two were Jeff Steeple and Randy Grossman, the latter of whom went on to win four Super Bowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
We went 1-on-1 this week with Martin-Robinson to recap his time on North Broad Street and ask him about what's ahead as he prepares for what he hopes is his own NFL career, and you'll find out why he's very excited about Temple's future at his position with players like Peter Clarke, Reese Clark and Landon Morris.
And on the basketball court, we talked about how Temple's men's and women's teams can get back in the win column Wednesday as they host Ole Miss and St. Joe's in a Thanksgiving Eve doubleheader at the Liacouras Center.
In the mailbag, we answered questions about Stan Drayton's future, the best mascots in sports, and just about every Thanksgiving scenario you can think of.

A basketball-heavy episode this week includes the first part of John DiCarlo's interview with Camren Wynter, the special assistant to head coach Adam Fisher, as well as clips from Jahlil White and Matteo Picarelli from Temple's men's basketball media day. The Owls are just 10 days away from tipping off their season on Monday, Nov. 6, against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Wynter, who first played at Drexel before transferring to Penn State, helped the Nittany Lions land an NCAA Tournament berth last season. He talked about why he jumped at the opportunity to join Fisher at Temple instead of playing professionally overseas, and he also provided a closer look at the Owls' roster.

In addition to a preview of Friday night's Temple-SMU football game, you'll hear the first part of OwlScoop Editor John DiCarlo's interview with Owls forward Steve Settle, one of first-year head coach Adam Fisher's most important Temple men's basketball roster additions via the transfer portal.
Settle, who helped lead Howard to the NCAA Tournament last season, talked about his improved skill set - which includes an 8-inch boost to his vertical leap, he said - as a 6-foot-10 versatile forward who could help give the Owls a dimension they didn't have last season. Settle also offered a closer look at the roster, including what he's seen from new teammates like Houston Christian transfer Sam Hofman.
