Point guard Lynn Greer III and assistant coach Chris Clark return Sunday when Temple plays at Hofstra. Can they get the Owls back on track during an important, three-game stretch of the season? Can Diane Richardson’s team knock off No. 15 West Virginia Sunday after beating Villanova last weekend to claim the first Big 5 Classic title?
And a full and entertaining mailbag brought us more questions on this week’s podcast. Who’s coming and going in the portal for the Temple football program? Are the Harry Potter films Christmas movies? Where are we on eggnog as a society in 2024? Does OwlScoop reporter and Scoop producer Johnny Zawislak still make a Christmas list for his parents? (The answer is yes.) And what’s next for Declan Landis?

After a Philadelphia Business Journal story left some doubt about the future of Temple football, Temple President John Fry said the university wants to ‘honor and reinvigorate’ the program as it looks for its next head coach. We talked about where that search stands and if the Owls can close out the season with a win over North Texas.
And on his way out as Everett Withers enters his last game as Temple’s interim head coach, the longtime college football veteran did not hold back on his assessment of today’s game and what Temple must do to keep up with it.
“I hope this administration hears the need for finances to keep good players on this football team,” Withers said Monday during his weekly availability as Temple’s interim head coach.
You’ll hear audio from that interview and more about Temple basketball. Adam Fisher’s Owls will see familiar faces in Fran Dunphy and Jahlil White up at La Salle Saturday, with the winner moving on to play St. Joe’s for the Big 5 Classic championship.
We talked about all of that and much more in the mailbag on this week’s Thanksgiving edition of The Scoop.

Temple announced late Sunday morning that it has parted ways with head coach Stan Drayton less than 24 hours after the Owls posted an 18-15 overtime win over FAU. Defensive coordinator Everett Withers will coach Temple’s last two regular season games.
What does this mean for the program moving forward? Who could be in the mix to replace Drayton? How are the current players feeling about the move?

After leading New Mexico to the Mountain West Conference championship and into the NCAA Tournament, Jamal Mashburn Jr. entered the transfer portal and picked Temple, where he’ll take the floor for the Owls as a preseason first-team All-American Athletic Conference selection.
In his 1-on-1 interview with OwlScoop.com for this week’s episode of The Scoop, Mashburn Jr. said he’ll be playing his fair share of possessions on the ball as a point guard for second-year head coach Adam Fisher.
Mashburn Jr. has seen enough from his new teammates on and off the court to have him believing Temple could be playing some meaningful basketball in March.
“It’s just been a family-oriented deal over here,” Mashburn Jr. told OwlScoop. “All the players, they love me for who I truly am and who I authentically am, and we're able to have those tough conversations early, which is what a good team needs in order to succeed in January and February. So, it's just this group is great. I think we're going to do some special things. We just got to go out there and continue to stack days.”
On this week’s podcast, Mashburn Jr. talked about his relationship with his father, offered a detailed breakdown of Temple’s roster and talked about what is important to him off the court.
