Season 11, Episode 4: Evan Simon isn't sleeping on the job

Evan Simon hasn’t been sleeping on the job. In fact, he’s literally been sleeping at Temple’s Edberg-Olson Hall football complex for the last two weeks, he told reporters, as the Owls’ quarterback competition moves along. That was one of the gems to come from Thursday’s media day session, and you can hear the media day interviews from Simon and head coach K.C. Keeler on this week’s podcast, along with part of a OwlScoop 1-on-1 interview with former Temple linebacker Tyler Matakevich as he recalled how the Owls carved up Penn State’s offensive line in their 27-10 upset win over the Nittany Lions back in 2015.

Season 10, Episode 49: Jamai Felt has big plans for Temple

Jamai Felt, the reigning MAC freshman of the year, transferred to Temple from Bowling Green this spring and could give Owls head coach Adam Fisher the rim protector the program has lacked during the past two seasons. The 6-foot-10 Felt, who led the MAC with 46 blocked shots, joined The Scoop this week and talked to us about recovering from two ACL surgeries and why Temple was the right fit for him when he entered the NCAA’s transfer portal.

Felt, who is recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder, said he will be ready for the start of preseason practice and the regular season. The shot-blocking numbers he put up last season, he said, are just a preview of things to come.

“Forty-six blocks is a lot,” Felt said, “but I'm trying to do more this year. Trying to get (American Athletic Conference) defensive player of the year for sure.”

In addition to providing updates on Temple football’s two newest verbal commitments, we also paid tribute to the lateJohn DiSangro, the former longtime director of basketball operations under Hall of Fame coach John Chaney. DiSangro passed away last week at the age of 60 and was memorialized by his nephew, Rocco DiSangro, on this week’s podcast.

Season 10, Episode 47: Tim Pernetti sets his vision for the AAC's future

This week’s podcast includes our 1-on-1 interview with American Athletic Conference commissioner Tim Pernetti, as well as part of our conversation with Temple football coach K.C. Keeler. Among other topics, Pernetti talked about the importance of revenue generation and vision in the aftermath of the House settlement and why Temple’s success is vital for the future of the conference, and Keeler provided more insight into the Owls’ early summer workouts and explained why he’s excited about the team’s defensive line and why he thinks defensive end Tyrese Whitaker could be a double-digit sack player this season.
